Last week we gave you some background into one of Pastor Dudleys mentors and the basis for his “theology” he brings to the congregation at SOTH Porter Ranch.
This week we will look at Pastor Rutherfords less public side. To truly understand the man and his actions one first needs to know he is working under the handicap of ADHD. This knowledge, along with his temper, is kept tightly under wraps by an inner circle of minions on staff which serve many purposes. One female staff member, whom we cannot name, has been with Pastor Dudley for years. It would appear from what he have both seen and heard it is her job to interpret Dudleys actions to the public and buffer him from any outsider who may try to reach him. Continued…

Unfortunately, most of the offended overlook the disease itself, called “Diaprax” and focus instead on its superficial symptoms like loud music, casual attire, hipster lingo, interpretive dance, dramatic skits, no pews, no cross, no choir, no robes, no hymns, no bibles and NO repentance, in bank-owned 50 Million dollar “worship centers” clamoring with combos, chants, clapping and confusion. If you find yourself in a worship service like this or “Bible study” with a facilitator focused on shared feelings rather than scriptural facts, vacate the building as if the fire alarms were going off because that’s all the warning you’re ever going to get! The longer you stay, the greater your chances are of getting burned.
“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

For some time now a pastor following in the footsteps of Rick Warren and Bill Hybels has been on our radar and under a watchful eye. When visiting Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch California, you will at once be reminded not of a house of prayer and worship but a Hollywood game or talk show. It is complete with rotating disco lights, multi-plasma video screens and an array of high tech wizardry. The music which starts every “service” is loud and pounding. Most of the songs song we heard were poorly written, un-singable and nothing one could or would remember. Then after the “Ed McMann” of the week has whipped the masses into a video frenzy for the cameras we hearthat weeks version of “Heeeeeeeeerssssssss Dudley’!!!!!
We heard or saw no worship, humility, reverence or respect for the house of God. But why would we seeing how Pastor Dudleys mentor behaves. Let us look at Bill Hybels for a few minutes. This comes to us by Paul Proctor and American Reformation. Episode #2 next week. “The Dark Side of the Dudley”
” Bill Hybels, is quite accustomed to playing the role of
facilitator when bringing opposing groups together at his church for dialog.
In the fall of 2000 it was an unrepentant Bill Clinton that appeared before
evangelical leaders at Willow Creek to seek their forgiveness and support
before the Democratic Convention. In the spring of 2001 it was a forum of
the world’s largest religions gathering at Willow Creek for dialog. The goal
of such meetings is unity and a hope that opposing positions can reach a
consensus of understanding by focusing not on each other’s differences but
on each other’s similarities and common ground. (thesis + antithesis
=synthesis)…the “Hegelian Dialectic”. Continued…

Hey, Preacher! Who are you working for? Well, of course, you will say “for God”, or perhaps “for Jesus”. But actually, you are on the Devil’s Payroll — not God’s. Sorry, but it is true. So go ahead and admit it. You are the Devil’s kind of preacher and he pays you for your work. You are on the Devil’s Payroll.
Now why would I tell you such a thing? Well, I believe that honesty is the best policy. Isn’t money the “root of all evil”? What drives your preaching? You already know deep down – it is money. Yes, “filthy lucre” (as it is referred to in Titus 1:1). That’s what motivates you deep down. You preach to get money. You are on the Devil’s Payroll. Continued…

A Biblical Evangelist is not seen much these days. Most so-called “Evangelists” preach for numbers and/or money. Their basis is not the Bible – it is money, fame, or generally some other purpose other than pleasing Jesus. (By the way, if you are seeking the magazine, “The Biblical Evangelist”, then that website is located at (http://www.biblicalevangelist.org/). Yes, it seems that the Biblical Evangelist is a rare bred indeed these days.

It is a sad fact that today’s church is deceiving itself in some very crucial areas. Below are some plain facts (-absolutely true) that may shock a few people:
1. “Ask Jesus into our heart” is not in the Bible. Neither is “Give your heart to the Lord”, or repeating a “sinner’s prayer”. These practices do not exist in Scripture at all. The subject of salvation is the most important subject in the Bible and we are being lied to about it. These doctrines are a total fabrication. They were invented to make salvation “quick and convenient”. Many church members today who are relying on these things are clearly not ’saved’ at all. Continued…

Biblical Christianity or the Church of Laodicea?
By James Sundquist
There is an epidemic movement which has infected even the most conservative denominations and seminaries, which began in the United States more than a decade ago, and is now being manifested throughout the Church globally. One of the founders of this “seeker-friendly” movement is Bill Hybels, Senior Pastor of Willowcreek Church in the Chicago area.
REMOVE THE CROSS
The Ten Commandments have been removed from being posted in Public Schools and now we are reaping what we have sown — children shooting children — consciences seared like a hot iron. Similarly, now the seeker-friendly philosophy asks the Church remove the symbol of the cross. Of course, you don’t have to have the symbol of a cross in a church for it to be fervently evangelical or God-fearing. It has much more to do with the REASON the cross is being removed — the theology and philosophy behind this epidemic movement. Continued…

LTRP Note: The following article is written by free-lance writer, John Lanagan, who attended a church meeting this past weekend in which The Shack author spoke. The church, East Hill of Gresham, Oregon, is presenting a series on The Shack and began the series by having Young address the congregation. In view of a recent radio interview with Paul Young where Young said he did not believe in the biblical view of substitutionary atonement (see links below), Lighthouse Trails is presenting this article. It is not the intention of this report to single out East Hill Church but rather to warn believers of The Shack’s interspiritual and universalistic theology and the book’s major impact on many many churches. Because it is being packaged and presented as a Christian book, we are compelled to issue this warning.

Exposing pagan, occult and New Age teachings in THE SHACK
William P. Young’s best selling book THE SHACK is considered by many Biblical ministries to contain New Age, pagan and even occult false teaching. Blatant heresy and false teaching of any kind should never be permitted in any Christian Church [or Christian bookstore] regardless of whether or not it is fiction. Continued…

A REMINDER FROM A.W. TOZER:
“Wrong ideas about God are not only the fountain from which the polluted waters of idolatry flow; they are themselves idolatrous. The idolater simply imagines things about God and acts as if they were true.
Perverted notions about God soon rot the religion in which they appear. The long career of Israel demonstrates this clearly enough, and the history of the Church confirms it. So necessary to the Church is a lofty concept of God that when that concept in any measure declines, the Church with her worship and her moral standards decline along with it. The first step down for any church is taken when it surrenders its high opinion of God…”
- A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy (HarperCollins: San Francisco), 1961, p. 4.
